Dr. Karin Öberg is a professor of astronomy at Harvard University and founder of The Öberg Astrochemistry Lab. Her research is focused on both the origins of our universe and the search for extraterrestrial life.
Dr. Öberg's passion for science and the universe began at a young age, inspired by her father's support and reading A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. She views cosmology as a multi-generational adventure—a collaboration across the ages to gradually move closer to the answers to questions posed since the beginning of human history: How did we get here? Why do we exist? Are we alone? Why is there something instead of nothing?
The Big Bang is one of the latest and most broadly accepted developments in the quest to understand the origin of the universe. In this video, Dr. Öberg discusses the implications of Big Bang cosmology and offers an intriguing comparison between it and previous cosmological models.
