On March 20, Father Spitzer will speak at the 2022 Los Angeles Religious Education Conference (RECongress 2022). The conference will be held from March 17-20, 2022 at the Anaheim Convention Center, located in Anaheim, California. However, for the second time in RECongress history, there will also be a virtual option to participate from anywhere you are able.
Founded in 1956, as an institute for religious education teachers, RECongress has grown to be the biggest annual gathering of individuals of all ministries, vocations, and faiths in the world. It is a four-day event that is sponsored by the Office of Religious Education of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
RECongress offers a multitude of opportunities. Through various mediums (workshops, liturgies, entertainment, art, film, Sacred Space, and their Exhibit Hall), RECongress can help you whether you are looking for prayer, reflection, new resources for your faith, professional growth, or fellowship.
There will be a Youth Day (March 17th) and Adult Days (March 18-20th).
The theme of Youth Day will be “Jesus Take the Wheel.” The aim will be to inspire and educate youth to give up the wheel and let God take control.
RECongress 2022 Theme Song
The theme of the Adult Days is “Living Waters of Hope.” The aim will be to calm the troubled waters in the wake of the uncertain times stemming from the worldwide pandemic and to give “certainty that we can approach Jesus with our thirst and find fresh, clean, always running water that will quench the need of our hearts, our faith communities, and societies.”
Fr. Spitzer’s talk is titled “A Contemporary Catholic Moral Apologetics” and will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 10 a.m. PST.
In today’s modern world, young people are constantly confronted with new teachings and attitudes towards topics such as abortion, transgender lifestyle, cohabitation, and pornography. Fr. Spitzer's method of moral apologetics is based on secular studies of the emotional impact of these issues, particularly significantly increased rates of depression, anxiety, suicidal contemplation, and suicides.
Through the use of data, Fr. Spitzer will show how the moral teachings of the Catholic Church are good for spiritual, emotional, and marital health. Furthermore, Fr. Spitzer will also discuss why this correlation is attributable to Jesus' definition of love (covering agapē, eros, and philia), which has guided the Church throughout Her history.
To attend the 2022 Los Angeles Religious Education Conference virtually, you will need to register ($35) by March 31, 2022.
