Parousia, an Australian based organization for Catholic leadership and mission formation, is excited to announce the launch of its online academy where Fr. Spitzer will offer a course on Faith and Science. The academy’s webpage asserts, “we have a vast need for Catholic adult education,” and that is exactly what they hope to provide with their academy.
Charbel Raish, founder of Parousia and director of the Academy came to his own faith through Catholic adult education. Raish was in a Mosque—all set to leave the Catholic faith for that of Islam—when he randomly started praying Hail Marys. Immediately, he felt that it was not time to enter into the Islam faith without exploring his own Catholic faith first.
“I don’t know my faith. It is not fair that I leave something I don’t know,” Raish said in an interview with EWTN, describing his experience at that time. Luckily for Raish, Dr. Robert Hadad, one of the Academy’s lecturers, was offering adult apologetic classes at a parish nearby. From these lectures, Raish was able to fully enter into his faith and fall in love with God.
Now Raish, and the whole team over at Parousia Academy, hope to share the authentic joy that comes from understanding the faith. They also hope to form leaders for missions through Parousia Academy. This has all been made possible through a partnership with Campion College in Australia alongside with Theologian, Dr. Paul Morrisey offering a course entitled “An Introduction to Christology.” Other lecturers include:
- Fr. Robert J. Spitzer, SJ, PhD. Magis Center
- Dr. Jeremy Bell, Campion College
- Dr. Ted Sri, Augustine Institute,
- Dr. Christopher West, Catholic Author
There are three courses ready now to take on demand with many more coming soon. You can take the courses as an auditor or (for an extra fee) choose twelve courses and earn a Certification in Mission from the Academy.
