Wednesday of the Second Week of Easter

John 3:16 is one of the richest and most-oft-cited passages in all of Holy Scripture…and for good reason. It succinctly and powerfully summarizes the intentionality of the Incarnation. God is not against us. He is not our accuser or adversary. Rather, He is our Sustainer and Advocate in every possible way. He came to walk with us, to laugh with us, to weep with us, to heal our infirmities, to strengthen us, to make us holy, and ultimately to bring us back to Himself so that we might live with Him for all eternity. The story of the Incarnation is the greatest love story ever known.
A relationship, however, does not consist of one person loving another from afar. Relationship requires intentional action on the part of both parties. God has played his cards. He has done everything for us. He has come to us. He dwells with us. He waits in the tabernacles of every church and chapel throughout the world waiting for us individually. There is nothing He desires more than to sit with us, spend time with us, and just love us. What, then, is our response to this immense love? How might we be more intentional each day about intentionally spending time with our loving Creator who wants nothing more than to simply be with us?
