How strong is your faith? I think most if not all of us would wish to have a stronger, firmer faith. In today's gospel, a disgruntled Jesus speaks of the "faithless" generation that he must endure. The little faith of the disciples resulted in their inability to work a healing.
Our Lord's call to greater faith may provoke in us a desire to increase our faith by our own means, whatever that might look like. What we might be left with is good intentions and clenched fists. Let us not forget that faith is a gift. In Mark's version of the same story, the boy's father cries out, "I believe, help my unbelief!" (9:24). May this be our prayer to the Lord as we strive for a faith that is ever greater.
