Friday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time

"There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known,” Jesus says to his disciples and the crowds. These are words that call us to a coherent lifestyle and warn us against hypocrisy. All is known, even the hairs of our head are counted. Jesus’ words are meant to convey God’s presence and solicitousness towards his creation.

Where can we go to hide from God? The words that are meant to show his love and care become burdensome if in our mind all we can see in the eyes of God is scrutiny and judgement. We are known, and we are loved. This will never change. If we can let this truth enter our mind and find its dwelling place in our heart, then God’s abiding presence will be a source of sincerity, courage, joy, and freedom. Let us ask for this grace.
