Tuesday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time

The Kingdom of God is not merely something that starts small and becomes large; it is something like a mustard seed that is small and vulnerable enough to be eaten by the birds, yet becomes large enough to become their home. It is like the yeast that through some unseen power causes all the dough to rise such that the bread it makes is soft and delicious. In other words the Kingdom is not invading, it is not conquering and destroying what is here: it will transform and renew the Kingdom of Man from within. Christ the King is not conquering territory, but hearts in which the mustard seed of the Word is planted and grows, in which the yeast of His Spirit is mixed and the heart expands and softens. Jesus does not desire a throne in Washington DC, in London, or any earthly city: He desires to rest upon the throne of each human heart that receives Him and surrenders to Him.
