Introductory Prayer

Father, you created me and put me on earth for a purpose. Jesus, you died for me and call me to complete your work. Holy Spirit, you help me to carry out the work for which I was created and called. In your presence and name—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—I begin my reflection. May all my thoughts and inspirations have their origin in you and be directed to your glory.

The Sixth Day in the Octave of Christmas

The prophetess Anna, in today’s gospel, never left the temple. She prayed and she fasted, and when she saw the Christ child, she praised God and shared the Good News with others.

There are many Annas in our church communities today. Surely you know one or perhaps you might even be one of them. These are the women who pray without ceasing, who are there on Sunday and throughout the week. They are prayerful, friendly, loving and ready to speak to others about God, ready to help others, especially the younger generations, ready to encourage vocations.

Our church would not be what it is without them. If you know an Anna, take a moment to pray for her and express your gratitude. If you are an Anna, thank you for your prayers that sustain us.
