Wednesday of the First Week of Advent
In some cases, Jesus went out of his way to visit a person and perform a healing miracle. In other cases, he did not go out of his way. Instead, he waited for the sick person to come to him. In the gospels we see vast crowds of people working very hard to reach Jesus and to ask for his help. Some crowds even trek long distances. In Matthew 15, the crowds went up a mountain (in montem, εἰς τὸ ὄρος) to find Jesus, and they had “with them the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute, and many others. They placed them at his feet, and he cured them.” This means that although divine help is sometimes given without being sought, sometimes it is given only to those who seek it. Sometimes we have to go up the mountain. Sometimes we have to carry others with us.
This is a blog on Ignatian spirituality. This is a place for people who want to go up the mountain, to do whatever it takes to find Jesus Christ. What you will find here are some methods and some encouragement. Some things new, some things old. It’s up to you, after reading this, to do the hard work, to seek the face of God. The one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
