Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Our Heavenly Father sent Jesus into our world to restore it to what it was when he created it, before sin destroyed it. That’s the meaning of Redemption. United in authentic marriage, man and woman today are participants in this creative love. That’s the meaning of marriage.
Our society today tends to deny the difference between man and woman. So, marriage does not exist, nor do the effects of the redemption. If Christ ever came, he did so in vain. His teachings stand in contrast to the definitions and teaching of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). It’s as simple as that.
One of the purposes of Christian marriage is the cooperation of man and woman with the Father in the creation of children, so often referred to by Christ in his teaching. It should then be no surprise that an effect of DEI is advocating abortion and infanticide.
So, what should my reaction be to this hostile, contrary teaching that is so propagated today? I am invited to develop a child-like attitude to God’s providence, as Christ recommends in the Gospel: a simple, confident dependence and love a child has for his parent, who knows what is best for him.
Resolve: Since prayer is the moment when I place confidence in the Lord and his ways, I shall pray more often for people in our society, who, often times out of ignorance, deny by words and actions, the Church’s teaching on the effects of Christ’s redemption.
