Thursday of the Thirty-first Week in Ordinary Time
One point from the Gospel passage today that should strike each one of us to the core of our being is just how tremendously God values each and every one of us. Truly, what an absolutely and incredible thought this is - that we, such finite and flawed beings, should be so loved and valued by an infinite God. There is nothing that we can give Him that He does not already have. There is no beauty, power, perfection, or element of God’s being that we can add to in the least. And yet He loves us so dearly, so passionately, so gently, and so tenderly that, in spite of all our weaknesses and shortcomings, He never tires of us and in fact infinitely delights in us.
And not only does He never tire of us, but in spite of all we have done, God became one of us so that we could look Him in the eye and see Him face to face. He came to spend time with us, to heal us, to teach us, to laugh with us, to cry with us, to shoulder our burdens, and to lead us home. I invite you to spend a little time today just thinking about how absolutely incredible and unthinkable it is that we have a God who loves us in this way.
