Monday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

Each person battles with his or her own demons and Jesus is clearly aware of these disordered natures as noted in today’s Gospel reading about the healing of the demoniac. What is shocking in this story is that the demon recognizes who Jesus is, by calling out “What have you to do with me Jesus, Son of the Most High God?” (Mark 1:24) Yet, the “normal” swine herders order Jesus to leave them out of fear.

While many advances have been made in the modern world, take some time to step out of busyness of your daily life to really examine the demons you are fighting against such as needing more time, money, patience, or more rest. Bring these before Christ and ask for His help, He has chased out demons before, don’t think He can’t do it again!
