Wednesday of the Fifth Week of Easter

“Remain in me, as I remain in you,” Jesus tells us today.  In these words, we can feel the affection and steadfastness our Lord has for us.  There is a certain romance in the notion of remaining.  Lovers want to remain with one another.  In the Spiritual Exercises, we are advised to remain with our experience of God’s love, rather than running ahead of God and grasping for new things.  Even good things can lead us away from God if we chase after them without remaining in Him.  How can we more fully remain in God’s love?   The answers will vary among people.  Let us pray to God that He may show us how best to remain with His Son.
