Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter
Peter proclaims, “…we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus.” He affirms this statement applies equally to Jews and Gentiles. I think we do well to reflect on it in three parts. First, “we believe,” indicates the collective experience of faith that we share with the apostles. Second, our faith is “that we are saved.” That is to say, we are rescued from the eternal death that sin brings. Third, this salvation is only “through the grace of the Lord Jesus,” who gave His life for us. Do we trust in God’s promises and actions? Is God’s grace enough for us, or do we feel like we have to prove or save ourselves?
