Saturday of the Seventh Week of Easter

With complete assurance Paul proclaimed the Kingdom of God to all who would hear him in Rome. This kingdom is not of this world, but it nevertheless breaks into this world. That is what we prepare to celebrate on the Solemnity of Pentecost. Through the Paschal Mystery of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit has been poured out into our hearts to unite us to the Holy Trinity. When this union of God and man is accomplished, the Kingdom of God has extended its reign.

The boldness of Paul in proclaiming the kingdom is a mark of the Kingdom’s presence in every age. Would we describe ourselves as bold in witnessing—whether in word or deed—to the Kingdom of God? Jesus does not give us the spirit of fear, but rather the courageous ability to invoke “Abba! Father!” just as he did. Come, Holy Spirit, and allow us to enter into the Kingdom of our Father.
