Tuesday of the Fifth Week of Easter
Reflect on the 1st reading: After fasting and praying, Paul and Barnabas ordained a number of priests to assure that the people would have the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Then they went on to other places.
Now the Responsorial Psalm: “Let all your works give you thanks, O Lord.” Everything I have, I have received from the Lord. To be a believer is to be aware of that fact. This insight enables me to live in a spirit of continuous thanks for all the wonders of this world. “Lord, your friends make known the glory of your kingdom.” Because I am a believer I am attentive of the Lord’s activity in history and in every person I meet and, since Easter, I see more clearly such activities end in victory. “May my mouth speak the praise of the Lord, and may all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.”
Finally, put all of this in a blender. Result? Pray for an increase of priestly vocations, especially in the diocese where I live. It is the priest who is the instrument God uses to make his Son vividly present in my life, which enables me to see and live out the message in today’s readings.
