Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

Small acts of obedience and love may be of no greater importance than when they are in the defense of the lives of those who cannot defend themselves. Perhaps there is no cause which seems more Goliath sized than the one we remember in a special way today. Perhaps we feel that we are too weak when confronted with the task. And what does the Church say? Fast. We are called to remember even more intensely our weakness so as to know ever more deeply our reliance on the God whose strength will be proven in our weakness.

He may ask great things of you in this cause (working in courts, arguing in legislatures, appealing to couples at clinics), He may ask small things (talk to a friend with kindness and offer support, it may be what she needs to decide to keep her baby that you didn’t know of). Today, listen in prayer like Samuel who said, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.” (1 Sm 3:10) Then, do whatever act of love He tells you. It will be the part that you are to play in His Providence’s granting our prayers, and bestowing the peace we so long for and seek.
