Wednesday of the Fifth Week of Lent
“The truth will make you free.” We speak so often of freedom, but we forget that true freedom is found in Christ. His word is the light that dissipates the darkness enabling us to see the choices that will bring us happiness. I will pray today that light be given to me and to those who are with me on our pilgrim journey to the Promised Land where the Resurrected Christ awaits us with those who have gone before us. Sin is the greatest obstacle to freedom. Sin darkens my way. It trips me up. It enslaves me. Jesus came to earth to free us all. That is why he lives among us, especially in the Eucharist and in the other sacraments, in our brothers and sisters, in the events that we encounter each day. This freedom is the work of the Son who is faithful to his Father, teaching us to live the message contained in the “Our Father”, enabling us to live each day in the freedom of the children of God.
