Memorial of Saint Cecilia, Virgin and Martyr
The 1st reading gives us some post-election thoughts to contemplate. Using the symbols of the harvest and the grape-gathering, the glorious Christ, the lamb, will be the judge of nations.
In the Gospel Jesus speaks of the destruction of Jerusalem.
It is the end of the B.C., the Old Testament era and the birth of a new era, the A.D, our era. The destruction of this period is to be the first act of Christ’s glorious return, the beginning of a new, everlasting era.
Wars, revolutions, famines and other disasters have been with us from the beginning of time. Our Lord realizes his salvation in spite of them. He is ever present in the evolution of humanity, in the carrying-out of the Father’s plan for the world that St. Paul describes in the first few chapters of the letter to the Ephesians.
Conclusion: rather than allowing myself to be distracted by imaginary scenes of the end of the world, I will resolve to collaborate better with the work of Christ, here and now, to play better my part of the Father’s plan for our world. Work, supernaturalized, is the key.
