Today’s Gospel invites prayerful consideration.
During all of his life Jesus was conscious of his coming passion and death. It was for that reason he came to our world. The Son of God, he was at every moment faithful to the Father. The Son of Man he chose the road that led to Jerusalem where he would suffer and die.
Like him and with him I am invited to say to the Father each moment: “Thy will be done.”
The welcome Jesus received in the Samaritan town was not encouraging. He sent his disciples ahead of him to prepare his coming, but they were not accepted because they were on the way to Jerusalem.
Unfriendliness raged among those who piously worshiped the same God.
The Savior of the world is a victim of rivalries dividing his people whom he has come to save. He admonishes his disciples who wish to take action, Why? Is it because he wished to live his Beatitude:
“Blessed are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you falsely on my account”?
Is there a lesson here for me? Along with Mary and my guardian angel I’ll pray about it
