Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Lent

The scriptures today speak of promise and call. The first reading reminds the exiled Jewish people of their covenant, their exile, and the continued work of the Lord. Jesus recalls this exile when he speaks of the time when those that are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out. Our readings today remind us that some voices put us in places of darkness and death while other voices bring us to the fullness of life. Listening leads to following and during this season of Lent we may want to judge and examine the voices we hear and follow, noting carefully where these voices lead us.
