Friday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time

How pertinent is the teaching in this Gospel for us today! God has given man and woman different bodies, different psyches, but they are complementary; called to partake in the same life by the unity of their love through the sacrament of marriage.

He also blessed those who respond to his invitation to choose celibacy as witnesses of the kingdom to come, as men and women wedded to the Church in time

Jesus never underestimated the difficulties such lives would entail. Egoism hardens the heart. He gave his life out of love. I will pray today for married couples and for those discerning marriage; for those committed to celibacy and those discerning vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

May they be more opened each day to  the sacrificial love Christ gained on the Cross for all.
