Thursday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time
We often here stories of sudden conversions in people’s lives – those times when God acts and transforms someone, freeing them from a wayward path. These are manifestations of God’s immense mercy which mark the beginning of a new life. But conversion in the Christian life is not a one and done deal. It is a daily endeavor. Of course, we would wish that the Lord would remove from us all our sinful tendencies, our addictions, our insecurities. His work, however, is often slow and gentle.
Jesus encourages us in today’s gospel to ask and to seek, for we will receive and we will find. Our Father in heaven knows what is best for us, and he knows when and how to give it to us. Let us never grow tired of asking him for his Holy Spirit to guide our lives into the way of truth and righteousness.
