Saturday of the Twenty-ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Wisdom and joy follow from living as true servants in the house of the Lord, as those who are as united to Him as any member of the body is united to the body as a whole. No longer like the infants we were before coming to know Christ’s love at work in our lives, with maturity we can wisely recognize as “deceitful scheming” such human claims which would go against our Lord’s command to love Him and our neighbor. (Ephesians 4:14) No longer isolated by concern only for ourselves, we can rejoice to go into, to be a part of, the house of the Lord. (Psalm 122:1) We may delight in joining with the tribes upon tribes which have found unity in the heavenly Jerusalem, built with a unity which can only come from the Lord who is one. Through our meditation on His Word may the Lord continue to grant us the grace we need to bear the fruit of united and faithful service to Him.
