Saturday of the Fourth Week of Easter
Paul obeys Jesus’ commanded to be “a light to the Gentiles” (Acts 13:47). In doing this, Paul is not merely an inspirational figure, or someone the Gentiles can admire. Paul is a light to the Gentiles because he brings them the news of Jesus and His salvation. For their part, “the Gentiles were delighted when they heard this” (Acts (13:48). Paul brought the light of Christ, and the Gentiles desired illumination.
People desire good news. We often underestimate the value of what we have and how much people will want it. We have been given the words of salvation for all the world, and we so often keep it hidden away out of misguided politeness. All of us are called to spread the light of Christ, just as Paul did. Never be afraid to invite someone to share your joy. Not all will accept it, but many will delight because of the good news you bring.
