This is a tough one, the feast of the Holy Innocents. We commemorate today how a vain, power-hungry, and ultimately, fearful man ordered the killing of innocent children. What provoked this massacre? The birth of a great king, born as a child into humility, meekness, and ultimately, love. Christ the King, a stark contrast from Herod.
There are still many Herods in our world today who, in fear, exert force over the weakest and most vulnerable. Today is a day to reaffirm what makes our King a great king, His humility, meekness, and ultimately, His love. May we follow in his steps.
