Friday of the Twenty-third Week in Ordinary Time

To make progress in the religious life we must rely on others. This means we must be honest with ourselves and with those who share our space. To refuse to take the sure path to holiness risks our taking a false one, and pulling others along with us.

Jesus is the light who illuminate the path for us. He does so with the Commandments, the Beatitudes, rules for thinking with the Church and our guarding angels. And if we allow him to do so, he inspires us to avoid anything that trips us up along the way.

How? By inspiring us to know him better, so that each day we can see him more clearly, follow him more closely, docile to the particular angel he has given us, and ever mindful that we do not walk alone.

Like pilgrims on the way to their destination, giving support and encouragement to one another, each day we walk forward, despite set-backs and stumbles, toward our final home to join companions who await our arrival.
