Tuesday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

When Jesus told the apostles to beware of the leaven of the pharisees, they did not understand him. When He gives me the same advice, how should I avoid making the same mistake? He reminded the apostles what He had done for them in the past. Doesn’t He tell me I should remember what He has done for me in the past?

So, it is in prayer that I should ask for the ability to see how He has been with constantly at my side. how He has guided me in the past. It is also in prayer that I become more aware of His continuous presence, enabling me to distinguish the leaven of the pharisees from the true bread which He offers, especially the Eucharist, so that I can be more thankful to Him now and in the future.

Ideas from today’s 1st reading might aid me in this effort. The waters of the flood are the symbol of my baptism, my birth in Christ, a newly adopted son of the Father; the arc is the symbol of the Church, of salvation. So, the gifts He has given to me in the past: creation, baptism, filial adoption, the Eucharist, a member of the Catholic Church. How can I ever forget His love for me!
