Thursday after Ash Wednesday

In the Gospel today Our Lord announces His passion death and resurrection, reminding me that I am a disciple of one who saved the world by dying. To be a collaborator with Him in saving unknown brothers and sisters throughout the world, I should want to live as He did, in union with Him.

This means having the desire to walk along with him, during the next 40 days, on the road that leads to Easter, putting up with the workout that that entails. It’s a sure way of getting to know Him better, of being daily energized by His close presence.

Along the way, He will invite me to a continuous conversion; to give up those habits that make me to stumble, and even those little gumdrops from bonbons to Bourbon that cause entrapment in passing pleasures that blind me me to the joys of a fuller life, the eternal life, the culmination of His passion, death and resurrection.
