Saturday of the Third Week of Easter

“Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Peter’s words ring true in the depths of our hearts. Yet how often is the truth behind these words ignored?

A temptation exists to forget God and his boundless promises of love, truth and life. Sometimes we seek that which is palpable, immediate, easy. Willfully, we turn away from the Lord. Or, we can commodify God, bringing him out when we need him or running to him only when we’ve failed or are feeling down.

The Lord is not a consolation prize.

To whom shall we go? The only answer capable of fulfilling us is Christ. But that decision to go to him should be done in freedom, with our whole hearts, our whole souls, our whole beings.

What are those areas in my life, those aspects of my story that are preventing me from giving myself over fully to the Lord?

Today, let us turn to Jesus with all that we are and ask that we may go to him evermore fully.
