In the 1st reading of today’s mass, we see that God sent a number of “signs” to Peter, indicating his will, inviting him to respond. He continues to speak to me though the events, signs that come into my life on a daily basis. Am I as docile as Peter to attend to them?
I’ll pray to the Holy Spirit today for discernment to the way the Pastor speaks to me, one of sheep, through signs, events. The Gospel today tells me that the sheep that truly love the pastor discern his voice and are ready to follow him more closely.
Jesus is truly the way, the truth and the life. He became man in order that I might follow him, showing me the way to do so; hearing his voice in the scripture and partake in his life, especially in the Eucharist.
Prayer for me is to tell him my hunger for happiness and to recognize that he speaks through the people and events in my daily life. It means how I can discern his will to obtain peace, happiness. Lord, increase in me the gift of prayer.
