The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Through the words of the priest Christ gives me himself to consume in bread and wine. This way I become incorporated, digested into his divinity. I become more Christ-like, I come to understand better his words and actions in the Gospel. Our friendship grows. He incorporates himself more deeply within me. Heavenly Father, thank you for this gift of the Eucharist.
After becoming food for eating, he also remains housed in the tabernacle. The result is I can visit him, honor him and bring my needs to him. Again, Heavenly Father for this secondary gift of the Eucharist, thank you.
Today we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi, the Body of Christ under this two-fold aspect. Doesn’t it remind me to make a habit of placing myself in spirit before the Blessed Sacrament with every prayer I make? And if Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is offered in my parish, shouldn’t I try to participate, and encourage others to do the same?
Today in our woke world there are some who contemplate taking blasphemous action against the Blessed Sacrament, and there are others who succeed in doing so. All the more reason I should pray for them and make prayers of reparation before the Eucharistic Christ in the tabernacle or in my thoughts of him, whenever I cannot be present there physically.
Resolved: I shall put some time aside today to add my adoration, thanksgiving and petitions with those of my brothers and sisters throughout the suffering world to the Eucharistic Christ, Corpus Christi
