Why must we learn from Jesus, and specifically learn meekness and humility of heart? In order to unlearn what our ancestors taught us: to unlearn the curse and receive the blessing.
In the beginning our ancestors took up the motto of Satan, saying to God “I will not serve,” choosing to serve themselves. They took their own yokes upon their own shoulders and soon found that trying to live without God, living to serve oneself as one’s own god and object of worship, is exhausting. But the meek and humble who seek to serve God, who take His yoke upon them, find rest, for no longer do they carry the weight of their entire reality upon their own shoulders, but the Son of Almighty God helps them to do so. In serving God, God is better able to serve us for we have the humility to accept His help, as Jesus humbly accepted the help of Simon of Cyrene in bearing the Cross.
Learn from Him; He carried the sins of the world, and He can certainly carry you.
