Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter

The Gospel passage today is really a cause for tremendous joy and wonder in that Jesus explicitly states that the will of God is to bring eternal life to his people. We should stop and savor that for a long moment. The simple fact that we exist is a mysterious miracle and the fact that the God who has created us desires intimate relationship with us such that there are no lengths that He will not go to for us is an even greater and more mysterious miracle still. God will never reject or abandon any who come to Him and place their trust solely in Him. In the diary of St. Faustina Kowalska, it is recorded that Christ told her “though the sins of a person be as scarlet, let them come to me and receive tender, loving mercy.”

There is nothing that God will not do for us. There is no offense or fault that is beyond His ability or desire to forgive and heal. The real question is whether we are willing to open ourselves up to allow God to permeate those dark parts of our lives and flood them with his light and grace. One thing God will not do is force Himself upon us. He waits for us to invite Him in. He waits for us to surrender our lives to his loving merciful care so that He can heal all of our wounds and provide for our every need. He desires to do all things for us. The only question is whether we will choose to actually let Him.
