Wednesday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

“Do not even go into the village,” says Jesus to the man to whom he had just given sight. This is after a very intimate encounter in which Jesus takes him by the hand away from the village and works carefully with his hands and even his spittle to help this man see the world distinctly.

It seems tough. The man surely must have wanted to return to his own, to see his loved ones in a new way. But Jesus tells him not to. At least not yet.

There are times that our life takes radical turns, moments in which events, joyful or sorrowful in nature, spiritual or worldly, change the way we see things. Rather than rushing to talk about it, sometimes the best thing to do is to take time to let things settle, taking time to live more deeply our new way of seeing the world.

Jesus, our caring and attentive healer, helps us to find the right words and the right time to speak our truth.
