Wednesday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel Jesus denounces false prophets, those who talk the talk but do not walk the walk. So, truth is seen in action. It is there I can judge the sincerity of others and put a control on myself.
In his comparison to the tree and its fruit, Jesus asks me to reflect on myself. It is always easy to talk, and by talking I can fool others about myself. Jesus is the Truth because everything he spoke about he did. There was never a contradiction between what he said and did. That’s a lesson I can apply to a tree that bears good fruit.
Every Christian, irrespective of different life styles, is called to be a witness to Christ, to what he said; to what he did. It is like the seed that quietly germinates in the soil before it becomes a tree that will produce fruit. What’s needed? Confidence. Time. Patience. Prayer.
