Tuesday in the Fourth Week of Advent – Mass in the Morning
This morning’s gospel concludes the story of Zechariah, whose very name is charged with great meaning. In Hebrew, Zechariah means, “God has remembered,” and his words of praise today communicate just that. “He promised to show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,” Zechariah exclaims with joy.
He continues speaking of a hopeful future. “In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
God is faithful. God remembers. God will continue to deliver us. As we enter into the Christmas season, may this be the message of our lives.
